Request for Well Wishes For Dean Robert Rockett's Retirement

After 36 years of service to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Dean Robert Rockett will enjoy his retirement this summer. Rockett is one of only five employees who has been at the University for more than 35 years.

Rockett initially joined Embry-Riddle in 1974 as a guidance counselor and therapist, then became Dean of Student Affairs in 1980. He held this position longer than anyone else. In 1999, Rockett became dean of campus development. Then in 2002, he was appointed by former president Dr. George Ebbs as Dean of the Heritage Project.

Rockett’s dedication and support for Embry-Riddle are apparent in every aspect of his work. He can easily be credited for doing more to preserve Embry-Riddle’s historical legacy than anyone else. He is the only dean to have worked closely with every former leader of the institution - John Paul Riddle, Jack Hunt, Kenneth Tallman, Dr. Steven Sliwa and Dr. George Ebbs.

It is rare to find the level of integrity and pride with which Dean Rockett has served Embry-Riddle for the past 36 years. His passion for students, alumni, faculty and staff has been an inspiration to every person he has influenced.

We are collecting well wishes and fond memories about Dean Robert Rockett in a letter book to be presented to him upon his retirement. If you would like to submit your comments and memories about Dean Rockett, please email them to marci.stappung@erau.edu.

Please submit your comments by April 15. Be sure to include your first and last name, your class year and degree program.
