<< BackNew Leader for Office of Alumni Relations

Michele Berg has been appointed as the executive director of Alumni Relations for Embry-Riddle. During the last five years working as part of the Alumni Relations office, she has served as director of Alumni Relations for the Worldwide Campus, represented the university overseas, created the Alumni-Student Connection Program, and worked with Parent Relations. Michele has served as executive director on an interim basis since March.
“We are very pleased to welcome Michele to this new opportunity to lead our alumni efforts,” said Dan Montplaisir, vice president of Institutional Advancement. “I encourage your continued support of our Alumni Association and its plans to promote and involve alumni in the expansion of our brand as the world’s leader in the science and business of aviation and aerospace.”
Originally from South Africa, Michele came to the United States in 1998 and began working in higher education at Oakland University in Michigan as a human resources specialist. While in South Africa her experiences included attending Theological College and 13 years in church ministry. She taught in middle schools and high schools during a time of tremendous change in that country and spearheaded a Young Achievers program that helped students in their personal development and growth.
Michele became a U.S. citizen in 2008 and has three grown sons living in America: one served in Iraq as a U.S. Marine, another is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, and the eldest, who attended both Embry-Riddle and Oakland University, works for a marketing firm in Michigan. Her husband, Per, teaches at Palm Coast High School and serves as the basketball coach.
