Online Program Gets National Spotlight

Daytona Beach, Fla., July 31, 2008 – Blackboard Inc., a leading provider of e-Education software applications and services, presented Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide Online division with a 2008 Exemplary Course Award. Embry-Riddle is recognized as the world leader in aviation and aerospace higher education and delivers its online courses through the Blackboard platform.

The Exemplary Course Awards are part of Blackboard’s Greenhouse Program and recognize excellence in online education as evaluated through a comprehensive rubric. Embry-Riddle’s template-based online course design process was recognized with the selection of ENGL 221 Technical Report Writing.

Dr. Thomas Cavanagh, director of course design and production for Worldwide Online, accepted the award at the 2008 Blackboard World Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., on behalf of the Worldwide Online production and delivery team.

The Blackboard award is the second national award garnered by Worldwide Online this year. Worldwide Online’s WEAX 201 Meteorology I course was presented with the 2008 Distinguished Distance Learning Course award by the University Continuing Education Association.
